Spring

I haven’t had time to update anything. I’ve been laser focused on writing and editing another novel. Then, I got pretty sick and that took me out for months. On the flip side, I went to so many urgent care clinics and ERs, and that was an experience like no other. I felt like I was living in an episode of The Pitt.

Thankfully, I recovered, and am (slowly) getting stronger. I can’t say too much about writing yet (lots of things have changed) but here are some of my fave things from the last little while:

Florals for Spring. Devil Wears Prada 2 filming last year.

Summer rooftops :)

Late to the Hadestown party. I was lucky enough to see Jack Wolfe as Orpheus. What a canon event. I loved it so much I went twice and cried through most of the second performance. Nothing has ever moved me so much.

Cello’s.

Buying everything at Yoseka.

This vs. RATM.

This area of Brooklyn gave me Hackney vibes and it felt I was back living in Dalston. It’s next to a place called Brooklyn Granary and Mill on Huntington Street my Dad told me about. It has the best bread.

Do we remember JNCO Jeans??!?!?!??!

Bodega KAT.

Spring in Central Park.

Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.

Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.

So much of my own creative work is done in isolation. It’s nice to be able to leave it behind occasionally and immerse myself in nature, different creative industries, or a sports game (although it is playoff season, which is it’s own kind of stress!)

And all I can say about writing is that trying to figure out the next step of my career has been challenging. People think everything’s easy once you’ve had a modicum of success, but I think it’s harder. Because you have more to lose and more people judging you (and I hate to say it, but a lot of them are waiting for you to fail). I had so many setbacks and had to make some tough but necessary decisions after my first book came out that I almost quit. But I pushed through, listened to my gut, stayed consistent, and it seems like those choices are finally paying off. And spring does feel like the appropriate time, to be honest. I’m nearly done planting all the proverbial seeds. I just hope they grow.
